Residents enjoy upgraded experience, expanded access to specialized healthcare transportation
LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. (Sept. 25, 2026) — Sun Health’s La Loma Village Life Plan Community and
Envoy America, a specialized healthcare transportation service, have joined forces to address a
persistent industry-wide challenge: Access to quick, safe and cost-effective transport. Providing
reliable transportation between communities, hospitals and the appropriate next level of care
helps enhance the overall resident experience.
Since launching the program at La Loma Village in February 2026, Envoy America has
completed 885 trips for 193 patients and residents, traveling more than 4,667 miles. Most notably,
the partnership has facilitated 129 hospital discharges and admissions to La Loma Village’s Health
& Rehabilitation Center, including 124 stretcher transports — one of the most difficult forms of
non-emergency medical transportation to secure.
The Sun Health and Envoy America relationship helps address this challenge by providing
dependable transportation for residents with complex mobility needs. Envoy America prioritizes
the use of Broda chairs, helping ensure safe, timely transition to the appropriate care setting
without transportation-related delays. This support enables hospitals to complete timely
discharges and make acute-care beds available for others.
“The resident experience doesn’t stop at the doors of our community. If someone needs to see a
physician for a check-up, treatment or return home from the hospital, we want that experience to
feel just as exceptional and supportive as the care they receive at La Loma Village,” said Chief
Experience Officer at Sun Health, Kim Thompson.
“Transportation is an important link in the continuum of care, and when it works well, it can make
the entire care journey more seamless and efficient,” said Co-founder and CEO of Envoy America,
K.C. Kanaan. “At Envoy America, we see every trip as an opportunity to keep older adults
connected to care and community. Our work with Sun Health brings that approach to life.”
The program supports La Loma Village residents with transportation to medical appointments,
physical therapy, dialysis, and other healthcare needs. Envoy America’s Driver Companions are
trained to support and stay with older adults and individuals with varying mobility needs.
“Sun Health is giving me an incredible lifestyle, and Envoy America is aiding my quality of life,” said
La Loma Village resident, Martha Lenthall. “When I have later appointments, I don’t have to worry
because they’re there when I need them with a smile. It gives me reassurance to know that I get a
positive, reliable experience without having to rely on mainstream rideshare services.”
Sun Health and Envoy America plan to continue building on the program’s early results helping La
Loma Village patients and residents move between care settings with greater ease while providing
supportive, cost-effective transportation.
