A recent study, administered by Envoy America in the Phoenix and Tucson areas, showed what kinds of appointments and destinations seniors are using Envoy’s senior driving service for the most. Although medical trips came in with the highest percentage of trips taken with Envoy America, it might come as a surprise that the second highest category for trips was entertainment-based. During the 18 month period, Envoy’s study showed that 8.3% of trips taken were shopping trips, which included essential and pleasure shopping. Seniors want to see their friends, enjoy fun afternoon outings and get out and about while also avoiding the stress of having to drive themselves from place to place.

According to a 2011 study done by AARP, seniors that don’t drive make 15 percent fewer trips to the doctor, 59 percent make fewer trips to shop or go out and 65 percent make fewer trips to visit family and friends.
